Choir

The Westphalian Chamber Choir was founded in 1978 by its singers and present conductor, Markus Föhrweißer, and rehearses generally for one weekend a month in Münster.
The choir has a large repertoire of sacred and secular unaccompanied music, with particular emphasis on the often demanding choral works of the 19th and 20th centuries.

As well as performing regular concerts in Münster and throughout Germany, concert tours have taken the choir to Italy, Belgium, Iceland, Spain, Great Britain, Israel and the USA.

In the German national choir competition, the choir has won first prize for North-Rhine-Westphalia on all four occasions since 1985. In 1998 on the national level the 3. prize was reached.

The choir makes regular recordings for the West German Radio and produced 3 CDs „Europäische Chormusik“, „Weihnachten“ and „Deutsche Volkslieder“.
